Just wanted to briefly describe the server where all my stuff is running. I'll be referencing that page quite often. Basically I have an UltraSPARC-IIi box with a very light Solaris 10 installation. By very light I mean:
# pkginfo |wc -l
80
I think it is pretty safe to say that 99.9% of Solaris installations out there are not even close to being that light. : )
One might be wondering how I'm surviving with just that. I
compile everything else myself. And I do it because I can't find
official packages of the same quality. Everything on my system is
compiled in 64bit mode with UltraSPARC1 extensions. e.g.
# file /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd
/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd: ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9
Version 1, UltraSPARC1 Extensions Required, dynamically linked, not
stripped
why the heck would I have a 64bit UltraSPARC-IIi CPU and not take advantage of its capabilities? I know that not all the software is taking advantage when compiled for 64bit architecture, but I do that anyway. The very idea of me running everything in 64bit mode makes me feel good.
As you probably know from my previous post, I enjoy compiling various software myself. Here is how I compile Seamonkey:My goal is to get the lighest browser I possibly can, but keep all the functionality I need. So after many, many test compiles I eded

I thought it was time to upgrade mysql on my sun box. Sure enough, I did run into same problems I had when I tried compiling 4.1.15. Same ncurses error, same isinf error. Please read this to get more details and the workaround.
